So, now we are making distinctions between manmade lakes and those that are formed "naturally"? Yes, I understand about the organic decay. But, really...what happened when those other lakes formed way back when? I'm sure many of them created the same amount of GHG's and eventually the environment re-stabilized itself. I have a problem with a fundamental precept in environmental science. It seems to be based on the idea that the way things were five hundred years ago is the steady state of Earth that we all need to get back to. All extinct species since then were supposed to still be here. The levels of CO2 and O2 are supposed to be what they were. The number of trees should still be the same. Temperature cannot vary. Sorry, we humans are just one more of God's creatures along for the ride. And just like all the others, we affect the environment and, in turn, are subject to its whims.
