Adopt a cat

On Sunday 23th October our greenhouse will be full of homeless cats. You can come between 10am and 5pm to choose on of many lonely cats and take them home. All cats and kittens are provided with a veterinary certificate.

Fotograf Festival

Just like its partner projects – the Fotograf Gallery and Fotograf Magazine – the Fotograf Festival explores intersections in photography and contemporary art. This sixth year of the Festival focuses on the reciprocal effects of the concepts ‘culture’ and ‘nature’ and, over the course of October, it will present solo as well as group exhibitions prepared in cooperation with various Prague galleries. The Festival covers a wide range of events that go beyond the medium of photography, including community projects, performances, discussions, walks, and get-togethers outside of the established exhibition spaces.

Exhibition of budgerigars

This weekend a national exhibiotion of budgerigars is on in the upper exhibition greenhouse. On Saturaday it is open from 2pm to 6pm, on Sunday from 10am to 4 pm. Admission is 50 Kč for adults and 25 Kč for students and seniors.

Exhibition of aquarium fish

From Thursday 15th September a selling exhibition of aquarium fish is taking place in the subtropical greenhouse. It has been organized in cooperation with Akvaciris company. The exhibition lasts until 25th September. It is open daily from 10am to 5pm. The admission is 80 Kč for adults, 40 Kč for seniors and students and 20 Kč for bigger groups.

Autumn exhibition of cacti and other succulents

Botanical Garden of Prague’s Charles Science Faculty and Society of Cacti and Succulents’ Growers organize exhibition of cacti and other succulents. The exhibition takes place in the subtropical greenhouse from September 8th to 18th. It is open daily from 10am to 6pm, only in September 18th it is open to 4pm.

Santa Cruz water lily blooming now

In the tropical greenhouse you can witness blooming of the second biggest water lily in the world – Santa Cruz water lily (Victoria cruziana). It is closely related to Victoria amazonica, which was discovered by Czech botanist Tadeas Heanke in 1801. It was named in tribute to Queen Victoria.

Reading corner in garden refuge

To liven up your experience in the Garden you can enjoy books in our little bookcase. 
You can either borrow the books or take them home in exchange for some of the useless books you have at home. We also appreciate if you bring any other interesting book as well.
After reading the books, please, always return them back to the bookshelf.

Exhibition of exotic birds

In subtropical greenhouse there is going to take place the 77th year of the exhibition of exotic birds. It is organised by Friends of Exotic Birds Club which supports breeding exotic birds in the Czech Republic since 1930. The exhibition starts on Friday 19 August and lasts until Sunday 4 September. It is open daily from 10am to 5pm.
